Monday Coalition
The Black Response founded the Monday Coalition space in January 2021 as a gathering of service providers, community members, organizers, and city officials who were interested in developing a community safety program outside of policing. The coalition has met consistently every Monday or every other Monday over the last four years and has evolved over time. It was first a place to develop the HEART model and then primarily a space to advocate for HEART’s funding and implementation with the City of Cambridge. Monday Coalition continues to be an open space to share HEART updates with partners, strategize about HEART’s development and build meaningful relationships with different organizations. Please reach out to info@cambridge-heart.org if you would like to receive a meeting invitation.
Mental Health Working Group
The Mental Health Working Group consists of staff as well as volunteers from various mental health backgrounds, including licensed social workers, therapists, and other professionals. This group meets twice a month to support HEART by collaborating on the development and review of protocols for responding to mental health crises, recommending mental health training for responders, and offering mental health and wellness support to staff as needed.
DV/SA Working Group
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (DV/SA) Working Group is an active part of our Cambridge HEART ecosystem. It is a space for Cambridge HEART staff and service providers within the field of DV/SA to learn together and offer mutual support around developing non-carceral, community based responses to interpersonal and intimate partner violence. The working group meets every third Wednesday and spends time building intentional relationships, sharing resources, offering skill shares, and problem-solving responses to situations related to DV/SA.
Fundraising Working Group
The Cambridge HEART fundraising working group pulls from other HEART volunteers on an ad hoc basis to meet specific fundraising goals, such as planning the annual April fundraiser, planning the Sustainer Drive, and making the most of opportunities like the Half my DAF project. We are recruiting volunteers to build a year-round working group. To learn more or to volunteer, please visit this link.
Grant Writing Working Group
The Cambridge HEART Grant Writing Working Group has supported HEART since its inception. This group of dedicated volunteers works with staff to determine funding goals, evaluate funding opportunities, and apply for grants. The team is also a resource for grant reporting, which is led by staff. If you would like to help write grants for our work, please visit this link.
Communications Working Group
The Communications Working Group has evolved over time and typically consists of a staff member and volunteers who lend their communication skills to support HEART’s social media presence. This group also assists with website maintenance, copy editing our monthly newsletter, and addressing other communication needs as they arise.
